Weddings are coming back! Twice as many couples are due to get married in 2022 in Ireland, compared to a typical pre-pandemic year – due to a backlog in weddings. According to The Business Post, as many as 40,000 couples could get married in 2022. That could mean an unprecedented demand for Ireland’s wedding suppliers. Figures on the number of marriage ceremonies registered in the past 18 months with the General Register Office showed just 9,188 went ahead in 2020.
With a rush already on for 2022, couples are also looking ahead to 2023. Increasingly, couples are trialing midweek dates instead of the usual Friday and Saturdays. The number allowed at a reception is anticipated to expand to 100 guests on August 2, 2021 (pending reopening Government).
